Sony announces the Memory Stick Micro M2 - just what we needed another memory stick type.
The new Memory Stick M2 measures 15 x 12.5 x 1.2 mm and could theoretically have 32GB in the future. Maximum transfer speed is 160MB/s.
This new Sony Memory Stick is directly competing with the miniSD cards, which became somewhat common in mobile phones.
The photo in the Sony press-release (Japanese) shows a 1GB Memory Stick Micro M2. No word on other storage versions yet.
Sony also offers a M2 adaptor. Funny that it is again a standard size one and not one of the newer PRO or PRO DUO.
