"Mom, why is this man talking into his wallet?" I am not sure if I like the new Bang & Olufsen Serene Mobile Phone. It is
definitely different. I will have to try it in a B&O store to find out.
Bang & Olufson partnered with Samsung to develop what they call Serene Mobile. The B&O mobile phone looks like a black wallet. It features a 240x320 pixel color TFT screen and Bluetooth. Other features include GPRS,WAP 2.0 browser, MMS, VGA Camera and Email. That is pretty much it. The serene phone is very focused, which I actually like. It features also a thumb-operated wheel to navigate the functions on the screen. The number buttons are arranged in a circle. Not sure if that is great.
Bang & Olufsen wants you to have their new mobile phone for Christmas and will start selling it still in Q4 2005. The price is supposed to be around 1,200 USD (1,000 Euros) without a contract.
Samsung and Bang & Olufsen setup a little site for the serene mobile phone. Make sure to try the sounds. I guess the spend month to design those.
