Apple apparently ships iPod nano players now with a protective sleeve similar to the sleeve bundled with the 5G iPods.

Not sure if this helps Apple with a class-action law-suit on their hands filed by people who do not want to accept that their iPod nano bruises easily like a peach.
More details on iLounge. There are tons of protective skins and cases available for the iPod nano already.
I guess the best way to protect the iPod nano without changing it's cool appearance is with one of those transparent foils or films that can be attached on the surface.
