Toshiba introduces the Gigabeat P Series flash mp3 players in Japan.

The Toshiba Gigabeat P5 (MEP05L) is a 512MB mp3 player, whereas the P10 (MEP10L) is a 1GB mp3 player.
Features of the Gigabeat P Series include: 1.1 inch color OLED display, direct encoding, FM Tuner, voice recording, WMA DRM support and 14 hour battery life. The new Toshiba players measure 31.9x82.0x13.2mm and weigh 50g.
Toshiba gave the P Series some colorful design, but that does not help much in making the P series more attractive.
Apple set with the iPod nano a new level for flash based mp3 players. The P Series is to big and the storage capacity is that of yesterday's flash players. No need for Toshiba to bring those players to the US or Europe.

Toshiba has with the Gigabeat X20 and X60 MP3 Players some nice hard-drive based MP3 players on the Japanese market. On the US market the Gigabeat F series is available.
