On Monday I wrote about the lack of information for consumers about the availability of more Xbox 360 consoles before the Holidays.
I had expected that Microsoft would make an official statement about the supply situation
this week, but I have not seen anything official from Microsoft about this topic.
Microsoft seems to rely on MS employees and their blogs to inform their potential customers. John Porcaro from Microsoft Marketing has reported about the Xbox 360 supply situation on his blog (Thanks Dan A.). Microsoft Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson also has published a piece about this
hot discussed topic on his blog.
The good news is that both MS employees say that Xbox 360 packages are shipping constantly to retailers and suppliers. Both say though that it is up to the retailers what they do with the Xbox 360 consoles they receive.
They also say that the claims of retailers about not having the Xbox 360
available for weeks and months are untrue. Some of them have to of course
fulfill first their pre-order lists, before they can put consoles on the shelves
for new customers.
Both blogs are also confirming that there is no Xbox 360 recall.
One word to the Xbox 360 consoles and Xbox 360 Bundles we have available in our I4U Shop. I had several discussions with I4U readers and also with my purchasing team about why we even offer those overpriced consoles. First off, we would offer them cheaper if we could. The suppliers are setting the price. Second, I decided to at least list them, knowing the prices are comparable to what is available on eBay. And Thirdly, We will do our best to continue to try to get Xbox 360 cheaper and for a more
reasonable price.
