Sony is going to launch a Map software for the Sony PSP in Japan.
Calm down, this Sony PSP Map application comes without a GPS receiver. It is basically like Microsoft's MapPoint for Windows.
Sony PSP users can scroll around (360 degrees of freedom) on city maps and find places of interests like restaurants, stores and so on. You can search for addresses, add places to favorites and add comments. Those comments and favorite places can be exchanged via Wi-Fi with other Sony PSP users.
Now we only miss a GPS receiver for the Sony PSP and we are all set. And I mean not this GPS hack for the Sony PSP we reported about a while ago.
The Sony PSP Map application UMD will be available on April 20th in Japan for 3,990 yen (~$33).
More details in this Sony announcement (Japanese).
