Sony announces a compact digital voice recorder that can be directly plugged into a USB port to transfer data.

The Sony ICD-U70 (1GB) and ICD-U60 (512MB) can also play MP3 music files and record voice in MP3. It is nice to see that Sony sticks to the MP3 format. The 1GB model can record voice over 502 hours in long play mode. In MP3 format it’s only about 17 hours. The battery in recording mode holds for about 16 hours. The new Sony IC recorders come on the market in May. No pricing information available yet.
