Good thing it went for a HDTV projector for my home theater for now and held of on the Plasma TV purchase. Panasonics's new Plasma TV generation G9 raises the image quality by a big step with up to 10,000:1 contrast ratio (G8 had 3000:1).
The 50" TH-50PX60U and the 42" TH-42PX60U are about to hit the market in the United States.
The new Panasonic Plasma HDTVs feature NTSC and ATSC/QAM (SDTV and HDTV broadcasts) tuners and the obligatory SD Card slot. The resolution is still not full HDTV, but the pricing of the new G9 Panasonic Plasma TVs is also fairly affordable. The 50" TH-50PX60U has an MSRP of $3,499.95 and the 42" TH-42PX60U has a list price of $2,499.95.

Panasonic will also come out with a 65" full HDTV (1920x1080px) Plasma dubbed TH-65PX600U later this year sporting the new G9 panel (Thanks Alex for the Tip).
