Modeo LLC pushes DVB-H mobile TV with own designed Windows Smartphone manufactured by HTC.
Apparently Modeo is also itself providing the DVB-H infrastructure. The company piloted DVB-H in Pittsburgh during 2005. Modeo plans to officially launch this network and its commercial-grade multicast mobile broadcast center during 2006 in select major U.S. markets, including New York City. The company currently is working on deployment of the network to the top 30 U.S. markets, with launches targeted throughout 2007.
Modoe competes in the US with QualComm's MediaFlo, which is supposed to be better than DVB-H. At least something is happening. I already thought the United States is loosing touch in the mobile digital TV sector.
The Modeo Windows Smartphone with DVB-H mobile TV tuner runs on Windows Mobile 5.0. The quad-band GSM TV phone features the NVIDIA® Go-Force® 5500 mobile graphics engine, 2.2 inch color screen, 1.3MP camera and a microSD card slot.
The Modeo smartphone measures 4.1" x 2.2" x 0.6" and weighs 4.23 ounces.
