In the new Toshiba HD-A1 HD DVD player is a standard PC IDE HD DVD drive from NEC and a Intel CPU.
Lorin Thwaits over at his blog published a video unwrapping a brand now Toshiba HD-A1 and then taking it apart piece by piece.
In the Toshiba HD-A1 is actually an Intel Pentium IV on duty. Lorin removes even the headsink just to make sure. But the more strange looking thing I think is that Toshiba just took the NEC HR-1100A HD DVD drive and built a big case around it.
Watch the video, it is only 6 min. long and demystifies Toshiba's HD DVD player.
