Just when everything got back to normal in the Blackberry world, RIM gets hit again by a patent-infringement lawsuit. RIM settled the patent lawsuit with NTP in March.

This time it is Visto. Visto just won against Seven Networks and receives about $3.6 million. Motivated by this win, Visto filed now a similar suit against BlackBerry provider Research in Motion (RIM). Visto is seeking an injunction and monetary damages against RIM.
RIM's initial statement is that Visto's patents are invalid and that their customers will not be affected by the lawsuit.

Visto already sued Microsoft back in December. The 4 patents relevant for the case are:
• U.S. Patent No. 6,085,192 titled, “System And Method For Securely Synchronizing Multiple Copies Of A Workspace Element In A Network”

• U.S. Patent No. 6,023,708, titled “System And Method For Using A Global Translator To Synchronize Workspace Elements Across A Network”

• U.S. Patent No. 6,708,221 titled, “System And Method For Globally And Securely Accessing Unified Information In A Computer Network”

• U.S. Patent No. 6,151,606 titled, “System And Method For Using A Workspace Data Manager To Access, Manipulate And Synchronize Network Data”

More details in this Visto press-release and on Reuters.
