Club Sony Ericsson has some details on the upcoming upgrade to the Sony Ericsson P800.
Sony Ericsson, fresh off their first profitable quarter, have an assortment of new mobile devices (read: cell phones) coming down the pipeline.
Even though the SonyEricsson P800 is yet to be released stateside, it is an international hit, and has been the favorite of many U.S. importers. It currently only works with GSM, so only T-Mobile and Cingular customers can have it.
But it seems that the engineers at the joint-venture have not been asleep. They have looked into all of the shortcomings of the P800 and have addressed them in the P810/P900.

The P810/P900 is merely an upgrade to the P800, but marketing might go with the P900 moniker just not to anger the users of the P800 who might feel short-changed for being unwary beta testers.
Supposedly the camera resolution was to be upgraded to a 1.3Megapixel sensor, but now it seems the rumor was unfounded, although the P810/P900 will record digital video out of the box.
The upcoming device looks to be slimmer, has a permanent keypad, and a full-fledged stylus. It will support the new Memory Stick PRO Duo format, which has capacities upto 512MB at presstime and supports MagicGate, an embedded digital rights management for multimedia files.
It is expected to cost around the same as the P800, and appears to be launching in December 2003 for a street price of/around $600.
