Wednesday, the Association of Electronic Interactive Marketers announced that their first ever hall-of-fame award will be given to Will Wright, who is a phenomenally important figure in the world of video games. Most know him from his position at Electronic Arts, where he developed SimCity, the first game of its kind, and The Sims, which is still the best-selling PC game of all time.
Wright is currently working on Spore, an unfathomably deep game that lets you create your own world; actually, your own universe. It won IGN's best of show award at last year's E3. If anyone deserves to be the first recipient of a flagship award, it's Will Wright.
"Will Wright has had a revolutionary impact on the electronic games industry," says Jim Chabin, President & CEO of MI6 and AEIM. "As our industry and millions of fans worldwide anxiously await what promises to be a spectacular experience with his newest creation, 'Spore,' our board felt that now was an excellent time to acknowledge this person's impact on all of us."
Wright will accept the award during the MI 6 Game Marketing conference. More info at their website.
