DivX announced Thursday that they have released DivX for Max 6.5, which is a digital video player and converter. It has been tailored to fit the "Mac" feel, designed as an easy to use, "lightweight, drag-and-drop application." You will of course also be able to convert videos into DivX format, which is playable on tens of million of DVD players.
This is the first time DivX has officially released a Mac version of their player application. Darrius Thompson, a DivX executive, says, "The new player is elegant and very easy to use, while at the same time offering the kind of high-quality, cinematic experience that Mac users expect from video products."
I'm always happy to hear about long-running applications finally being available on Macintosh computers. Now maybe my Mac-toting brother won't keep using my PC to watch videos on my DivX player. DivX for Mac 6.5 is available for free download now from DivX's website, or you can buy the Pro version for $19.99
