NYU Students Create Real-Life Super Mario Bros Experience

Ever had that dream where you are actually Mario and have to smash goombas, jump unbelievable heights, and run as fast as possible? Well, a team of students from New York University wants to make that dream a reality.

They've recently finished their first version of what they're calling the "Nintendo Amusement Park", which features bungee-controlled super-jumping, life-size goombas and "?" blocks, and even sound effects to sync up with your actions. They say it's just the first step towards their ultimate goal of being able to combine video game physics and real-world obstacles and movements. Eventually, they want to be able to team up with Nintendo, for use of its trademarked material, and Disney, for their affluence in the engineering of amusement park rides. While this "prototype" of their Super Mario Bros project looks very rough around the edges, I know I'd love to put on that bungee harness and pretend I'm on a mission to rescue a beautiful princess. I really hope we will see attractions like this at future amusement parks and the like.
