Two XM Radios Suspended Because of FCC Restrictions

XM recently announced that they are suspending the sales of the Delphi SKYFi2 and Audiovox Express radio installation kits because of an FCC probe that confirmed that the two products' signal strengths exceeded federal limits.

According to letters sent to Delphi and Audiovox, the products, which are used to play XM content on ordinary radios, may interfere with surrounding FM transmissions. XM radios that are factory installed in cars are not affected.
XM, which has had its fair share of legal problems within the last year, said that they will be working with manufacturers to make sure that current and future models will be in compliance with federal guidelines. As of Wednesday, no plans were made to recall any of the XM radios since there is no health thread involved.
