It's tough to picture a college student in a position other than at a local pub guzzling down a cheap brewsky. But now, according to a biannual study in New Jersey, that picture is outdated. The iPod is the new college student icon.
The 18-year-old study has virtually always seen alcohol-related activities top the list of "in" things at college. But this year, in a 14-percent jump from the 2004 study, 73% of college students said the iPod was "in". Beer ranked in at 71%, so the reigning champion is not too far behind.
