The LG Migo phone from Verizon has been around for a while, as have details about the phone's "virtual chaperone" service, but today Verizon announced that the service has now officially launched.

The LG Migo is a special cell phone for kids that just has 4 pre-programmed speed-dial buttons and an emergency button. And now, parents can keep tabs on everywhere their kids go with this new service.
With the phone's built-in GPS, parents can not only remotely see where their child's cell phone is, but can also program "child zones", a pre-determined area where a parent wants his or her child to stay. If the child leaves the "child zone", the parent gets an immediate text message on their Verizon phone.

This is all done on Verizon's Chaperone website. On the site you can also change your child's speed-dial numbers in addition to other administrative changes. The whole package costs $19.99 per month.

This is a great thing for parents, but all I have to say is that I'm glad they didn't have this back when I was in my early teenage years.
