Automatic Door Makes Doorknobs Obsolete

Check out this Japanese prototype from Fukuda that could revolutionize the door industry (and let's face it; there haven't been too many revolutions in that industry). As you can see from the picture, it is a door that can sense your body when you approach and it creates a custom opening in the middle to let you through. It's just like being a ghost.
Potential uses suggested by Fukuda are for wheelchair-bound people who have a tough time opening doors, or people who have their hands full of groceries, etc. Another use could be a garage door made entirely out of this material. Imagine never smashing into your garage door ever again (instead, your car would go straight through and damage your entire garage).
Like many of these crazy Japanese ideas, this may never come to fruition (at least not for many decades), but it would be sweet to have a house that these formfitting doors. Though, how feasible would it be to be able to lock these doors?
