New Chip Offers 110+ Megapixel Technology

No, that's not a typo. There really is now a digital sensor chip that can provide resolution of over 111 megapixels. It's the first chip to break the 100 megapixel barrier. This of course makes it the "world’s highest resolution image sensor chip" ever created.
The chip measures a slim 4" x 4" and its official resolution capability is 10,560 pixels x 10,560 pixels. The Semiconductor Technology Associates developed the chip for the US Naval Observatory to use in locating and tracking stars and other celestial objects.
Suddenly my 6 megapixel camera now seems extremely inferior. I wonder when they'll make 110 MP cameras available for consumers...
