BritXbox is reporting that a source close to Microsoft has revealed information that the Xbox 360 will see a price drop later this year, potentially to lower than $200. Reportedly, Microsoft is attributing this to a new redesigned, less expensive version of the 360 innerds from ATI and IBM, but there's something happening in the fall that is the real reason behind this potential price drop.
Of course, Microsoft is trying one more time to get the Wii and PS3 enthusiants to shift their attention to them. If there's as significant a price drop as is being reported, the 360 could end up being less than the Wii.
This puts Sony in an interesting spot. When all three consoles become available for the first time, you may be able to buy both a Wii and a 360 for less than the cost of a PS3. I can't remember a situation like this ever since the re-dawning of the console wars in the mid-1990's.
