Hitachi developed with the YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory a smart tag that can be read from 30m away.
The battery powered tag comes as a small cube with 15mm side length.
YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory already showed their battery powered RFID smart tag a year ago. I guess with Hitachi they found the partner to bring the technology to the market.
The usage scenario for such a smart tag could be in container harbors or any other large scale storage areas.
The pricing of the new active smart tag will be around 500 yen (~$4.34).
