For the first time ever, China is launching an orbiter in space with a final destination of the moon. It's hardly the most renowned country when it comes to space exploration, but there is something a bit unusual about this particular quest. The probe will be blasting music during its celestial trip, and the tunes will be selected based on public input.

It's not the first time a space-bound object has had a music accompaniment. In 1970, the first Chinese satellite touted the song "The East is Red".
The lunar probe will be launched next year, specific date yet to be determined, and will cycle through about 30 different songs during its mission. If there are aliens out there planning a hostile takeover of Earth, maybe the satellite's loud music will drive them away.
