Michigan To House New Google Operations Center

Ann Arbor, Michigan is going to be the home of a new Google complex which, among other things, will be the new spot for Google's operations of their AdWords advertising division. They also plan to use the new office for working on Google's "library digitization project", including digitizing the entire libraries in the University of Michigan, which is located in Ann Arbor.
Michigan's governor Jennifer Granholm used this opportunity to do some political grandstanding. "We want to make sure that the world knows that this tremendous high tech company, one of the most successful in the world and the fastest growing, has chosen Michigan for its expansion," she said.
Since this new complex will reportedly open 1,000 new jobs over the next 5 years, it's a great opportunity for the governor, who's been criticized for not creating enough new jobs in the state, to take some credit.
