U.S. Internet Gambling Ban Likely

The Republican-led House of Representatives is expected to pass a bill today that would impose severe restrictions on the world of Internet gambling. The bill would ban most forms of online gambling, and would make it illegal for banks and credit card companies to authorize payment to such sites.
This is seen by Democrats as a move to stir up the Republican base, with mid-term elections approaching in just a few months. Because of the majority of right-wing representatives in the House, the bill will most likely pass, and would then be headed to the Senate, where similar bills have been originated but haven't gained any momentum.
All I can say is that I'm so glad that out highly paid public representatives who can shape our country are worried about things like this instead of gas prices, unemployment, and (everyone's favorite criticism) Iraq troop withdrawl. Thank goodness these over-middle-aged people have their priorities in the right place.
