The brightly-colored dollar bills known as "Monopoly money" have become such a part of the global fabric that it's tough to think of a Monopoly game that doesn't have that trademark currency in it. However, in the UK, they are moving the classic Parker Brothers game into the 21st Century, with fake debit cards and card readers/calculators for players to keep track of their transactions.

Not only does this give a dramatic facelift to the game, but it also would make playing Monopoly a lot easier. We all know what a pain it is to have to count out $22 rent for Atlantic Avenue, especially when all you have is large bills. That's no longer a problem with this new version. There's actually a deal with Visa in this move, so the debit cards and readers have the signature Visa logo, proving that the in-game advertising craze isn't just about video games. The new version costs 25 pounds (about $40). We have no word yet on a release for other countries outside of the UK.
