Coming Soon: The Plexeraser CD/DVD Destroyer

Plextor, the company name which makes everyone say, "Hm, I think I've heard of them before," will soon be shipping an unusual kind of CD/DVD drive - one that completely destroys all the data on any disc inserted into it. Sure, we've seen these kinds of things before, like the simply-designed Norazza CD/DVD Data Destroyer, but the Plexeraser works a little differently.

Instead of just brusing the underside of the disc, the Plexeraser actually re-writes over the disc and physically makes all the data written to it inaccessible. It's a great gadget for all of our secret IRS agent readers (yes, we know you're here), but probably not of interest to a wide audience. Nonetheless, if you've got personal information stored away on some CD and you'll never need to access it again, and this situation occurs to you quite often, you'll want a way to completely and easily dispose of that information, and the Plexeraser might be just the thing.

No pricing details or availability are known just yet. Via Akihabara
