Holy smokes. Nikon, one of my favorite companies when it comes to digital cameras, has finally given the official spotlight to their D80 camera. Though pictures surfaced prematurely, we were still waiting on all the details, and the good people over at Lets Go Digital have all the information you'd ever want to know about this monster camera. While it's similar to the Nikon D200, except it will only cost a fraction of the price.
Of course the big news is that the D80 is a digital SLR camera and promises to be one of the most feature-packed, widely-available DSLR cams out there. With 10 megapixels, 0.18 second startup time, and totally decked out features like auto & manual focus, external flash capability, and exposure compensation, it's enough to make any photo guru drool.
It's going to be hitting the stores in September at a price of $999. Of course, that's just for the camera body. Still, for a 10 megapixel DSLR, that's quite a bargain.
Lets Go Digital has a comprehensive list of specs right here, and they're even presented in a side-by-side comprarison chart to other famous DSLRs. And check out their full, nauseatingly comprehensive 15-page preview (most of which are just pictures) here.
