As if we didn't need another reason to draw comparisons between Microsoft's upcoming Zune media player and Apple's iPod, some pricing details have come aboard that link them even more closely. According to a recent report, the Zune will retail for $299. Back in the day (2001) Apple introduced the first iPod (5GB) for $399.
Although MS officials refused to comment on the report, it was apparently sparked from information that was given to retailers directly from Microsoft.
Also reported by the retailers is that the Wi-Fi compatibility that Microsoft has confirmed, will not in and of itself allow you to purchase music directly from the device. You will need to hook up to a PC to be able to do that. However, the wireless connection will allow you to share songs with other Zuners, from anywhere (provided you've got a Wi-Fi connection).
