If you completely forget about half of your potential customers, they're going to be spiteful. That's what Capcom is learning with their recent snafu in Dead Rising for the Xbox 360. You see, it seems their QA department only tested the game on HDTVs, assuming that the results would be the same of standard-def sets.

Perhaps that wasn't the best assumption to make, since the majority of Americans do not own an HDTV. The result is that, when played on anything but an HDTV, the in-game text appears very small, almost to the point of being unable to read. The screenshot pictured (full size) is apparently an example of what the game (mainly the text) looks like on an SDTV. Since the game is heavily reliant on the storyline, without any in-game dialogue, the text is a crucial component.

Calls and e-mails to Capcom were not immediately returned. Instead, the only official response comes in the form of a message on Capcom's message boards:

"Dear Everyone, I have heard your concerns and passed them to every source within Capcom possible. I feel your pain as I, myself, have a large SDTV and am having trouble reading the mission objectives, item names, etc.

I'd like you all to know we have heard your concerns and take them seriously. I have been seeing campaigns on other forums to send hundreds of emails to our support email. Unfortunately this doesn't expedite or increase the importance of the concern in any way, but it does take time and resources from other fans' equally deserving concerns. All concerns are always important to us and we do what we can.

We also would like you to know that we appreciate your feedback as the game was just released and it's feedback from our fans and gamers that make our games great. We appreciate your continued support of Capcom products!"
