Nintendo Talks Wii & DS at Leipzig, Leaves Us in the Dark With Wii Launch Deets

Nintendo just took the stage over at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany. This is arguably Nintendo's most anticipated appearance at this convention. They had a press conference this morning, at 10:15 AM local time (4:15 AM EST), and unveiled some new games for the Nintendo Wii, and showed off a new DS Lite

For the most part, it was just a generic PR babble press conference, but there were some things worth noting. For example, a sequel to Super Mario Strikers, for the Wii, named Mario Strikers Charged, was unveiled. Batallion Wars 2 was also announced for the Wii. Much to our dismay, Nintendo did not unveil launch details. This convention already had Nintendo's name printed all over it, so it's a shame they didn't use that to their advantage to get everyone riled up with some official details.
Other notable announcements included the hot pink DS Lite, which is different than the one that was launched in Japan a while ago. It'll be available in Europe on October 26. This comes right on the heels of the pink PSP announcement. I guess pink is the "in" color in tech right now.

Also talked about was Nintendo's plan to continue to seek "non-gamers" and re-define what a "game" is. Nothing too surprising here, considering the huge success of Brain Age for the DS. Considering the amount of hype surrounding this event, it is a shame that we virtually got no new information. For something titled "Wii Prove Our Promise", it didn't seem like they really proved anything.
