Everyone in the US has had DS Lite color envy for a while, especially when Europe got both a white and black DS Lite right at launch. Well, in less than a month the US will no longer be the only major country with only one color DS Lite. On September 13, Nintendo will launch pink and black (make that "coral pink" and "onyx") versions of the system in the states.
What's with all these pink systems all of the sudden? We got the pink PS2, PSP, and DS Lite in Europe, and now the pink Lite is coming to the US. It's kind of interesting because very few gaming devices have been released in a pink version in the past.
And just because it is so PR over-hyping, here's a quote from the press release: "Not only are the DS Lite screen and battery life incredible," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "but the new colors just add another element of fun, allowing people to personalize who they are by the color, or colors they pick."
Gotta love how George adds in that "or colors" part, so as not to discourage people who want to buy all the colors.
