Nintendo sort of disappointed us earlier this month at the Leipzig Games Convention, when they used their highly anticipated press conference to relay mundane details, most of which we already knew. This has led everyone wondering exactly when Nintendo is going to announce the launch details for their Wii console. It could be TGS, but it could also be something that is a little more lopsided in Nintendo's favor.

We now know that Nintendo is planning a special Wii event, with the media and everything, in New York City on September 14. Reggie Fils-Aime will be on hand, as will playable Wii demonstrations.
It kind of seems like this event would be a waste of time unless Nintendo has something important to say. After all, if it's just going to be a Wii demonstration or game announcement, there's nothing there that would be worth special attention.
