IFA 2006: Pioneer Plans Blu-ray and HD DVD Hybrid Drive

Pioneer says at the IFA 2006 that they are planning a hybrid drive that can play Blu-ray and HD DVD discs for 2007.

The Pioneer BDR-103 would be the one that solves the High definition format issue for you. More details about the Pioneer Blu-ray drive roadmap on Heise (German).
Samsung also said a couple month back they will work on a blu-ray/HD DVD drive.
Ricoh also already announced a lens that would make it easy to build hybrid drives.
It is great to see that there are more and more signs that the format war will not matter soon.
The photo shows the Pioneer BDR-101A Blu-ray drive that was introduced at the CES 2006.
