Microsoft Wants a Patent for Conjugating Verbs

Pretty crazy right? Trying to patent conjugating verbs? Microsoft sees it in a different way.
Microsoft has filed an application to patent a "Method and system for selecting and conjugating a verb". The system would be able to break down verbs and display all possible conjugations, and you can switch between a ton of different languages.
The method is really anything but revolutionary though; it just uses large tables that hold every form of every verb. So what is the purpose of the patent?
There are numerous companies that file for obvious patents, and the reason is for defense against "patent trolls." But what if the company filing for the obvious patent is a patent troll themselves?
