It is official. The Nintendo Wii launches in the United States on November 19th for $249.99. We reported just a couple of hours ago, when the NY Times already published that info. It turned out to be true.
The United States gets the Nintendo Wii earlier than Japan. Who would have thought this.
The U.S. Nintendo Wii will include the wireless Wii Remote controller, one Nunchuk controller and the collection of five different Wii Sports games on one disc.
Between launch day and Dec. 31st 30 Wii games will be available. Nintendo published games will sell for $49.99.
Nintendo Wii launch titles include Wii Sports, a compilation of tennis, baseball, golf, bowling and boxing; The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess; and EXCITE TRUCK™.
The Wii user interface uses a Channel metaphor (That reminds me, I developed Channel Interfaces for Internet TVs back in 1996, time flies).
More details in this Nintendo press-release. See also the new Wii.com site.
