The Downsides of the Nintendo Wii

After all the hype of the Nintendo Wii this week with the major announcements of launch dates and prices some downsides of the Nintendo Wii surfaced.
The Nintendo Wii will not play DVD movies. This is acceptable for most people as DVD players have become a commodity. Still it would have been nice for kids to save the space of an extra device in their rooms.
Additionally Nintendo is imposing region-coding for games. There is some confusion about this though, but GamesIndustry.Biz has Nintendo UK admit to it yesterday. Region-coding for games is just plain annoying - especially for Europeans. You have to wait in many cases for a new game that already is available in the US or Japan until it is translated and available in local video game shops.
These little issues will not make any impact though on the success of the Nintendo Wii.
