BenQ did not apparently benefit from the purchase of the Siemens mobile phone business which they bought about 1 year ago.
German Manager Magazin (via Heise) will report in its new issue on Friday that BenQ Chairman Kuen-Yao Leedie wants to sell the mobile phone manufacturing plants in Asia and Europe.
BenQ is apparently in negotiations with Foxcoon and Jabil.
BenQ wants to still sell mobile phones, as they just talk about selling their mobile phone plants. I guess it is just cheaper for a 'small' player to outsource manufacturing. The European plants will be hard to sell and BenQ just made the wrong choice to buy them from Siemens after all. It looked like an impressive move back then, but it looks like BenQ failed to turn the deal into something promising.
