Those of you out there who are really into computer hardware will likely recognize the name Asetek. These are the same guys than make the insane VapoChill phase change cooling device for serious computer overclocking. The punters (I am never sure what they mean by that, but it sounds very Europeanish) over at The Inquirer have some info on a cool sounding liquid cooling system form Asetek that could well be the answer to cooler and quieter computers via liquid cooling directly from the major computer manufacturers. If the Inq is correct, the system is being directly marketed to OEM PC builders as well as game console makers. That last bit opens up some interesting possibilities for console gamers. You could have say a future Xbox that runs faster, utilizing liquid cooling for a much quieter system. With the upcoming quad core computers and the prospect of CPUs with eight or even sixteen cores on the horizon we will begin to see liquid cooling replacing air cooling as a necessity for stable systems. The days of liquid cooling being mostly used for extreme performance types are coming to an end. Asetek is calling their new system Low Cost Liquid Cooling, and it looks pretty darn cool (no pun intended). Support for different CPUs and platforms and the ability to dissipate up to 250W of heat may be the answer to noisy and hot computers. If you want to liquid cool your own rig, check this out.
