Fuji has now launched a new digital camera with built in face detection technology called the FinePix F31fd. The camera uses face detection technology built into the cameras processor to help the camera focus on a subjects face. Fuji claims that the technology can identify faces and optimize settings in just .05 seconds. The face detection feature allows portraits to be taken faster and easier with better results. Face detection works by placing a green square around the primary subject on the LCD screen and white squares around the faces of up to nine other subjects in group shots. Once the subject faces are identified, the camera can automatically track them so long as they don’t move out of the picture. A 3x optical zoom is a bit wimpy, though the camera has a good 6 megapixel resolution and a 2.5” LCD. If you’re into video, you can capture video on the Fuji at up to 30 fps with sound. No price details were mentioned and the camera is set to debut in time for the Holiday season. Shop other fuji FinePix cameras here.
