HP Unveils their HD100 HD-DVD USB 2.0 Drive

HP has announced their first external HD-DVD drive dubbed the HP HD100. HP is ramping up to support both Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats with the HD100 being the first drive out the door. Availability is expected by the end of the year.
Along with the announcement of the new external HD-DVD drive, HP also announced thier first laptop to support HD-DVD, the Pavilion dv9000t.
Read speeds for the drive are 2.4x for HD-DVD, 5x for standard DVD and 14x for CDs. 2.4x may sound slow with CD drives routinely reading CDs way faster speeds, in HD-DVD land a 1x read speed is 4560 KB/s transfer rate. Shop HP products here.
