Sony announces that its 70 inch Grand WEGA SXRD XBR Projection HDTV KDS-R70XBR2 is shipping.

The Sony KDS-R70XBR2 is a full 1,920 x 1,080 HDTV based on Sony’s Silicon X-tal (Crystal) Reflective Display technology.
The 70 inch projection HDTV features Sony's WEGA Engine HD system, Digital Reality Creation Multi Function Version 2.5, 10,000:1 dynamic contrast, digital cable-ready with an integrated CableCARD slot and TV Guide on screen program guide, 2 1080p HDMI ports, front HDMI HDV camcorder connection, and a PC input. Sony also says that the 60 inch KDS-R60XBR2 is also shipping.
The Sony KDS-R70XBR2 has an MSRP of about $7,000 and the KDS-R60XBR2 has a list price of $4,300. You can order teh KDS-R70XBR2 on Amazon.com.

According to The NPD Group, a Port Washington, N.Y. based market tracking firm, Sony holds a commanding 44 percent unit share and 43 percent dollar share of the industry in the rear projection/micro-display category.
