ToyQuest just sent us over some information about their new product dubbed RipRoar Video Free, a portable video player with PVR functionality.

The RipRoar Video Free can record directly from a TV. It can switch channels via an IR blaster and you can manage up to 8 pre-programmed recordings. The RipRoar learns the necessary IR codes from your remote control.
Other features of the RipRoar include a 2.5 inch color screen (ToyQuest says it has the same size and quality as the iPod Video), 5 hour battery life for video play back, 512MB internal memory, expandable to 2GB with SD card, built-in speaker and USB port. This interesting product is geared towards kids, but it has actually impressive specifications.
ToyQuest’s Rip Roar Video Free has an MSRP of $199. I have no information yet when and where the RipRoar will be available. See also the ToyQuest site.
