Japanese video game exporter Play-Asia offers the Japanese Sony PS3 again. As reported Play-Asia canceled all Sony PS3 pre-orders end of October.
There is though a caveat. Play-Asia does not ship the Sony PS3 to countries of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. If you are living in Switzerland you are lucky. Australia and New Zealand also works and of course if you cannot score a Sony PS3 in the United States than you could go for the Japanese version.
Play-Asia charges higher prices than list. The 60GB Sony PS3 sells for $999 and the 20GB PS3 sells for $899. If you compare these prices with the Sony PS3 auctions on eBay, then they are actually low.
The 60GB Sony PS3 ships within a week. The 20GB PS3 apparently is directly in stock and ships in 24 hours.
