Hyped Optimus OLED Keyboard Goes Awry

The much hyped and highly anticipated Optimus-103 OLED keyboard by Art Lebedev is going down a very wrong path in my opinion.
The OLED keyboard concept appeared about 18 months ago. Lots of people liked the idea of having shiny colorful OLED animation on each of their keyboard keys. Especially Apple fanboys love it. Now two details emerged about the full Optimus keyboard that are very disappointing.
First the keyboard will only have Black and White displays in the first release that is slated for a May 2007 release. Yes this is still 6 month away. Black and white is just not doing it for me. It is also not clear if black and white means grey scale or really just 2 colors.
Now for the second deal breaker: The first Optimus-103 keyboards sell for $1,200.
Some Asian OEM please help the guy out! There is clearly a high demand for a keyboard with little color OLED displays in the keys, but not at $1,200 - especially not if the key displays are only B&W.
If you still are interested to get a Optimus-103 keyboard with B&W displays for $1,200, on December 12th Art Lebedev takes 103 pre-orders.
More details on the Optimus blog. Via Engadget.
