Marvell & Gateway have teamed up to launch both notebook and desktop PCs that have integrated draft 802.11n wireless network cards built-in. Today Gateway is announcing they have integrated Marvell TopDog WLAN tech using MIMO for high speed and better range.
TopDog supports the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signal range along with 20MHz and 40MHz channels. Together the Marvell TopDog tech can deliver speeds three times that of wired networks, 300Mbps, while being backwards compliant with all older 802.11 wireless standards.
"Gateway PCs are designed to provide industry-leading performance and value, combined with the seamless connectivity and massive levels of bandwidth that consumers desire," said Gary Elsasser, vice president of products for Gateway. "The Marvell TopDog WLAN technology enables an exceptional customer experience by transforming the PC into a central hub for distribution of multimedia intensive content throughout the home."
