To no surprise the first reports are in confirming that the Nintendo Wii sold out in Japan on Day one.
The Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun Sunday edition newspaper (Nikkei.Net (subscription)) reports that 400,000 Wii units were sold out around midday on Saturday.
Nintendo shipped 4x the amount of consoles compared the Sony on launch day in Japan. Now Europe is next this week and then I hope Nintendo focuses to satisfy the Wii demand in the United States with the 2nd wave of inventory. A good indicator that the 2nd wave of Wii inventory is coming on December 18th is the Wii bundle that Gamestop is currently offering. It will ship on December 18th.
