Why just do normal Christmas lights when you can really geek them out like this guy did. He placed your standard fare Christmas lights on his home and then connected them to some custom built devices that allow anyone anywhere in the world to control his Christmas lights over the web.
All you have to do is go to the website that the guy set up and enter the line to wait for control. Then a flash apples pops up with a schematic of his home allowing you to turn Christmas lights on the entire home on or off as well as control the lights in each window individually. Only a true geek would put this much effort into lighting his home. The set up consists of a wireless camera across the street to give the cam feed you see on the website and two computers to host both the website and the camera feed. The custom built light controller looks complex from the images. I can only imagine the complaining my wife would do if I tried to set something that complex up in out living room, the guy must be single or have a geeky wife as well.
