The World's largest computer trade-show CeBit is apparently in trouble as large companies stay away in 2007.
The CeBit in Hannover Germany needs a redesign to not loose ground to the now yearly IFA in Berlin. The driver for this is an anticipated 15% revenue loss for the CeBit 2007, as major exhibitors like Nokia, BenQ, LG and Motorola are not showing up.
The idea is to make CeBit more attractive to professionals again to improve efficiency for exhibitors. The computer show is also getting shorter in 2008.
Just to clarify, the CES calls itself the largest Consumer Technology Trade-show. What the difference means in reality to the CeBit is not too obvious.
In any case we will be at the CES 2007 in January of course in full force. CES seems to be the only show that is in good shape. I just say E3. I also skipped CeBit for several years now. It is just not the venue where global companies introduce their new stuff.
More details on Heise (German).
