DDR3 appears to be on its way to your PC as system memory in Q3 2007. Intel has new chipsets ready that will support the faster RAM due at that time. The Inquirer says that Intel has four new chipsets with two supporting DDR3 1066 or DDR 2 800.

That should mean that you can buy boards using the chipset that can work with either DDR3 1066 or DDR2 800. One of the chipsets is called P35 ad sports 1333 front side bus support. An integrated chipset called G33 is set to launch in Q2 2007 with eth same memory support.
The enthusiast chipset will be the X38 and is slated for Q3 2007 to replace the current 975X. This chipset will support DDR3 as well as PCI Express 2.0 and supports DDR3 only. Sounds cool and here’s hoping AMD offers DDR3 support around that time frame too. Story via The Inquirer.
